"...probably the finest urban folk band in the country"

Urban folk at its finest...

Midlands five-piece The Pobargs were originally formed in 1996 as a busking band and have progressed to become one of the best original singer/songwriting bands in the United Kingdom.

The band's influences are incredibly wide-ranging; some of their material even has a distinct 'punk' edge. But the haunting melodies and intelligent lyrics of songs such as '11th Day' set The Pobargs aside from the rest.

Listening to a Pobargs CD or attending one of their lively gigs is not just entertaining, it's an education in itself. This band play music with a message, just listen for yourself!

...the journeys of a man, the things that he has seen; the passion in his heart, the thunder in his dreams...

The line-up...

The band consists of Dave Griffin (lead vocals), Jez Madison (rhythm guitar and harmonica), Roy Stevens (guitar), Lou Jeffs (bass) and Matt Read (drums). Founder-member Paul Hinckley (guitar, bass and vocals) recently left the band in order to travel and to concentrate on writing, but still supports the band in many ways.

The musical genius that is... Paul Hinckley

The Pobargs are home-grown talent, right from the heart of the Black Country. Between them, they possess a wealth of musical experience and ability. These boys really seem to enjoy what they do!
